- These bolts have a step Allen key hole that is 1/4'' at the beginning of the hole and then steps down to a 6mm the rest of the way down. This allows the use of either a standard or a metric Allen key for the same bolt.

REASON FOR MAKING IT
The main reason I designed this is because when I had the big stock bolt sticking up out of my forks, I had a very uncomfortable encounter with an area of my body to the headset cap area of my bicycle. This is when I decided to design this part.

WHY IT WAS MADE THIS WAY
Looking Good-
Most original bolts that come with forks are big and ugly so we wanted to make something that was nice to look at. When your bike looks nice it makes you want to ride it.

Strength Tests-
They are made of 7075 aluminum because this grade is the best! These bolts have gone under extensive testing to make sure they do not break or strip out. In this test we used a torque dial wrench to find out at what point the each bolt fails. All the Tree bolts withstood 2 to 6 times the torque of 15 lb/ft, which is the point of a headset being so tight that it does not spin freely. That's tighter than anyone would want their headset to be. Generally people usually tighten their headset to 5 lb/ft which means that there is no concern of them breaking. Our headset caps are warranted against breaking.

Hex Key-
The step Allen key hole is 1/4'' to 6mm. This allows the use of either a standard or a metric Allen key for the same bolt. The reason for this was to make adjusting the headset tension less of a hassle, since the bolt it's replacing is usually something that requires a crescent wrench. Our bolt allows the use of just one tool whether you have a stem with 1/4'' or 6mm bolts. This is all in the pursuit of having fewer tools to lug around. The Allen key hole can withstand 55 lb/ft before distorting when the tool is properly seated.
